This is a request for a change in how categories and sub-categories can be entered.
The way Pinogy now works, you can type in a category or sub-category on a product page. When you do that it adds the category or sub-category to the Category list shown on the Settings page in the Product module. This causes constant errors and should not be allowed.
I recommend that this be changed such that you cannot type in a category or sub-category on a product page. On the product page, you should only be able to enter by category or sub-category by selecting from the list. If you want to add a new category you should have to go to the category list on the settings page and add the category there.
Here is what is happening now. An employee enters a new product and then types in a category or sub category. Treats are not a category. They are sub-categories under the Dog Food and Cat Food categories. But, an employee types in “Treat” as a category when entering a product and it creates a new category. On another product they type in “Treats” and it creates another category. If they could not type into those fields on the product page, they would be forced to select from the predetermined list and stop these constant errors.
